Singer-songwriter Eljuri took some time to talk to our cameras and share with 931amor.com some “behind the scenes” thoughts on her songs! Eljuri’s SONG COMMENTARY intreview by: Luis Moreno Comments on “Una Ola” Footage of ElJuri performing "Una Ola" (Jan. 10, 2008) --- Comments on “Yo Soy” Footage of ElJuri performing "Yo Soy" (Jan. 10, 2008) --- Ecuadorian guitarist and songwriter, Cecilia Villar Eljuri, introduces her new musical vision, Eljuri.
Eljuri was formed by Cecilia with the creative and management advise of Paula Romano. Cecilia's vision, Eljuri, is a mix of Latin and African beats including rumba-flamenco, reggae, cha cha, pasillo and son driven by electric and acoustic guitars layered over a funk, rock and groove foundation. "I had so much more to say. The lyrics of the songs for my next CD explore serious issues that call for the driving force of funk and rock. Eljuri is the way to deliver that deeper message through our powerful rock and traditional Afro-Cuban roots. Its truly the music that is the heart and soul of Eljuri", says Villar.
Cecilia Villar Eljuri (Vocals, Guitars, Songwriter) grew up in a Hispanic household that resounded with music, dance and theatre. She listened to Cuban son with her father, Paco Villar, the legendary radio, theatre and television pioneer in Ecuador, rocked to Led Zeppelin with her older siblings, and tapped into her mother Olga Eljuri Villar's, musical legacy. Olga was an Ecuadorian recording artist and composer of tangos, pasillos and boleros during the 1950s.
Cecilia's longtime creative collaborator and co-producer on this record, Paola Romano (People, InStyle, George, Spin) is a great contributor to the development of the upcoming CD with her insightful musical perspective and arrangement ideas.
