Brave parents catch sexual predators by posing as kids online via @ajelkallejero

With social media basically ruling the world these days, parents have to be extra vigilant about monitoring their kid's activities on the web. That's why I was so impressed when I heard that six mothers and fathers in the U.K. took matters into their own hands and actually helped catch seven suspected pedophiles by posing as children online!

Is that badass or what?!

The parents are apparently members of Letzgo Hunting, a new “vigilante” online group that confronts people they believe to be predators. As in this case, they set up conversations with their suspects through social media while posing as minors and arrange to meet them in public places. They then record the encounters and post footage of the resulting angry scenes.
And apparently, that method seems to be working for them. Seven suspected pedophiles have been arrested as a result of their work.

You have to admit, that's pretty impressive, not to mention brave. Still, as police have pointed out, it's also very risky. “While we understand the strong feelings that motivate this kind of activity, it can seriously affect the chances of success in court,” a Leicestershire police spokesman said.

Though I wouldn't recommend any parent trying this on their own, I do have to give this group credit for their commendable efforts. As long as they're extra careful, I don't see why they shouldn't continue doing what they're doing. Hey, they've obviously been succesful so far. Who knows how many kids they've already saved and could be saving in the future?!
