Well, it’s not quite Universal’s birthday but their celebrating anyway!
The studio celebrated its 100th anniversary Jan. 10th (it’s actually Apr. 30th) by announcing it will restore 13 of its iconic film.
The honored list includes:
Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein
All Quiet on the Western Front
The Birds, Buck Privates
Dracula and Dracula in Spanish
Jaws, Schindler’s List
Out of Africa, Pillow Talk
The Sting, To Kill a Mockingbird
Each restoration took between three to six months and cost as much as $600K. So say goodbye to loud hisses, weird wobbles, and horrible graininess for all your classics!
As part of the year long celebration, Universal will also be doing lots of fan fare. Some ideas include parades in Universal Orlando, tours of the company’s archives, and promos at major film festivals, with maybe a few suprise appearances!
The studio also unveils its new logo this year during Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax.
