Dollar signs are pointing to a possible record-breaking fundraiser for President Obama in Hollywood this week. The May 10th event will be held at the home of Oscar winner George Clooney and, according to “The Hollywood Reporter,” is on track to generate upwards of 12-million-dollars. Should the end-of-night tally arrive at that dollar amount, it would mark the biggest single U.S. presidential fundraising event in history. “The Hollywood Reporter” cites sources that say the campaign is expecting to raise as much as six-million-dollars through online donations alone. But campaign sources say the projected online totals might be a bit of a stretch.
The president could still see a big boost to his campaign coffer through attendance at the sold-out dinner itself. If all 150 guests donate the maximum 40-thousand-dollars at the Clooney gala, Obama could be depositing another six-million-dollars toward his reelection efforts.
