New federal data shows drug overdose deaths rose for the 11th straight year, mostly from accidents involving addictive painkillers.
In Tuesday’s Journal of the American Medical Association, the CDC reported that there were 38,329 drug overdose deaths nationwide in 2010.
And despite growing attention to the risks associated with certain painkillers, nearly 60 percent of the deaths came from prescription drugs.
