Actor Jamie Waylett, who played Slytherin bully Vincent Crabbe in the “Harry Potter” films, has been jailed for his actions during the London riots last August.
Waylett, 22, was convicted of violent disorder after the actor was caught on camera swigging from a bottle of bubbly that had been stolen from a supermarket. He received a two-year jail sentence, plus a concurrent 12-month sentence for handling stolen property but is eligible for release after a year behind bars, the BBC reported Tuesday.
“You chose to go out on to the streets on what was the third day of the violence,” Judge Simon Carr said, noting that the onetime child actor was hanging out near a part of town that was being looted and was seen holding a fueled-up Molotov cocktail.
Waylett was, however, cleared on a charge of intending to destroy or damage property with the flammable device.
“I accept entirely the jury’s verdict that you did not throw or have any intention of throwing it, but merely being in possession of it would have been terrifying to anyone who saw you,” the judge said.
