Starbucks calls woman Vagina instead of Virginia & she’s not happy about it VIA @AJELKALLEJERO

You know how when you go to Starbucks and place your coffee order for a “Venti 1 pump caramel, 1 pump white mocha, 2 scoops vanilla bean powder, extra ice frappuchino with 2 shots poured over the top (apagotto style) with caramel drizzle under and on top of the whipped cream, double cupped,” and you are so excited because you are pretty sure that they are going to get your order right and then they ask you for your name because it would be totally impersonal to shout out your order instead of your name? Doesn’t it bum you out when they get your name wrong? Because you know they get name spellings wrong all the time. Well, allegedly that happened to a woman named Virginia. Instead of writing Virginia on her cup, a Starbucks employee in Hong Kong wrote … VAGINA!
A customer posted a picture of the offending cup with the following caption:

“This is my sister’s cuppa from your HKU branch. Fancy your staff not being able to spell an American name like Virginia. Forgiving she has been with every misspelled cup. Her cup was once ‘Virgin’. Every Starbucks experience for her has been coupled with fear and anticipation. But THIS is just UNACCEPTABLE. Starbucks HK, you have to buck up or just not spell your customer’s name anyway. It is a derogatory attitude even if it is unintentional. What do you have to say about this?”

The post has since been removed. Some question whether this really happened or if it is a hoax. Either way it is HILARIOUS! Now, I understand that if it was done on purpose, it is beyond rude, but let’s give the non-American Hong Kong staff the benefit of the doubt and believe the misspelling was due to their unfamiliarity of American names. I mean if the cup said, “VAJAYJAY” on it, then you would know it was totally on purpose. I suggest the next time Virginia visits that Starbucks, she tells them her name is Richard just to see what they write.
